Limericks - a very short collection
​The author has been collecting Limericks most of his life. Unfortunately, he lost some of them usually when people ‘borrow books’, so he’s taken to the habit of writing on the cover page inside ‘stolen from Adam Mann’.
Adam has collected probably have several thousand Limericks over the years, but never actually counted, sometimes as collections and more often as not as single units from friends and individuals, or sung with great gusto after rugby matches.
Limericks have a very definite stanza, which is ‘a group of lines forming the basic recurring metrical unit in a poem’. Limericks also contain a great deal of ‘puns’ which take two forms; ‘The man whose left side was cut off, but he’s all right,’ and many puns are also mispronounced words, which the author believes are much cleverer.
